Interview With A Best Selling Author, Mr. A.Venkatasubramanian

Interview With A Best Selling Author, Mr. A.Venkatasubramanian

Mr. A.Venkatasubramanian is the author of ‘BUDDHA on WALL-STREET’, ‘NUGGETS of WISDOM’ and ‘THE REAL DEAL’ which are books about investments. He has also penned several articles on investments that were published online and featured in newspaper columns. He has a background in Management and Finance and combines his vast knowledge and experience to help people with their investments in financial instruments.

Mr. A.Venkatasubramanian is a qualified engineer and management graduate having done his B.E. from INDIA and M.S. in Engineering and M.B.A in General Management and Finance from the US. He has also completed CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst, USA) until Level – II.

He has been longstanding in the industry having served as the Vice President of a premier and fast growing Real Estate Company in India and has been part of a premier Mortgage Financial Institution in the US. He is currently an Entrepreneur and loves music, arts and is an active sportsman.

His knowledge and depth in the subject of finance has been laid out in these books which will leave a deep impact on the reader and help readers manage their life and finances in a balanced and effective manner.

Briefly describe your journey until now. Have you accomplished what you wanted or still have a mile to go?

My Journey as an author has been accidental when I started to write to help others with my experience and knowledge. It has grown into a passion and I derive great satisfaction out of writing. I would like to reach a larger audience and see that happening slowly.

While I have come a long way, I have a longer way to go and see myself writing over the coming decades.

You have rich experience in writing. Give us some tips on the “art of writing in English”.

I am not sure I am the best person to offer tips. The only thing I would say is you should only write when your thoughts have crystallized and you have organized your thoughts in your mind. This way they would flow naturally and easily making it a great read.

Also I would say whether it is fiction or non-fiction you should use the ‘snow flake method’ to write. Where you have abroad outline of the concept or plot and list the chapters before you begin to fill the chapters with words layer by layer.

What are your books “Buddha On Wall-Street And Nuggets Of Wisdom” all about?

“Buddha On Wall-Street” and “Nuggets Of Wisdom”are about managing investments in stocks and real estate respectively.  I call them BOW and NOW for short. While BOW is more about movable investments like stocks and bonds and about maximizing money it lays a strong foundation for happiness by talking about maximizing the Happiness Quotient (HQ) also.

Why is it that Indian writers don’t frequently win big awards such as Booker/ Nobel Prize/ Pulitzer in Literature?

I am not sure. I just think we need more people to explore literature as a career option and also open ourselves up more to fresh ideas and perspectives. Maybe that would give us a start. In any case I don’t think we should get too hung up on western awards and just keep doing good work.

What is the philosophy of your life? How do you handle success and failure?

My philosophy of life is to take success and failure with equanimity. I would say do not let success go to your head and failure to your heart. It should be the other way round where failure goes to your head so that you can think about it and success should go to your heart and make you a warmer heartfelt person.

Who are your real life role models?

In terms of role models I admire Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, Rahul Dravid ,MS Dhoni,  VishwanathanAnand, George Clooney, APJ Abdul Kalam, and AR Rahman.

How would you like to inspire the creative people wishing to make their career in the field of literature?

Being an inspiration to others would require a very high order of achievement and a lifetime of work. But I would say in my own small way I would like to contribute to the body of writings out there and show that being an Author is something everyone can aspire to be. They say, “In everyone’s life there is a hidden book”.
