Potpourri – Urvashi Tandon creates the perfect aroma of modern children literature

Potpourri – Urvashi Tandon creates the perfect aroma of modern children literature

Writing children literature is not a child’s play and in order to be successful as a children literature writer, one needs to have a detailed understanding of children psychology. Due to the professional background, the author Urvashi Tandon comes from, she has gathered a significant amount of understanding pertaining to the psyche of children. Hence, when she decided to come up with this book for children named ‘Potpourri’, it promised to create the right degree of magic. Thankfully, every single story which combines together to form this book lives up to that expectation. This particular book is a collection of ten different short stories and each story is a gem in its own right. The characters created in the stories are loveable and easy to relate to. Hence, a child is bound to fall in love with them immediately. It’s only imperative that the children will chose not to drop the book until they are through with it.

Here comes the second most important aspect of the book. In this particular book, the author had played a very responsible role and that too of educating children the right morality. The teachings are packaged in such a way that the children will never consider those to be preaching. The kids will read the stories just for the fun of it. As a byproduct of the reading they’ll get enriched in terms of lessons of morality. The book is also suitable for kids who need their parents to read the stories for them. It fits the bill for this strata of readers as well. The beauty is that the parents who are expected to narrate the stories to their children will also love the stories. In a way, there is something for everyone – the children and the parents.

Potpourri, as per the dictionary means a mixture of dried petals and spices placed in a bowl to perfume a room. It also means – a mixture or medley of things. The naming of the book is so beautiful that it is consistent with both the meanings. To summarize, through this book author Urvashi Tandon creates the perfect aroma of modern children literature.

This book is strongly recommended for all the new generation children and their parents.
