‘Poetic letters to God’ is not a book which can be force fitted in the genre of letter literature. It’s written in the form of a set of letters which the author has written to God but the book is beyond that.
As a reader once someone picks up the copy of this book, the liking starts from the cover page itself. It’s a nicely designed cover page which sets the expectation from the book very precisely. The building block of any work of literature is the language which is used. Here, in the case of this particular book, Author Shilpa Goel has decided to use a language which is extremely easy to comprehend. There are two advantages to that—firstly, it can very well be understood by a common reader; secondly, the author can very successfully convey the message she decided to pass on.
The other point that is going to work very well for the modern day busy reader is the amount of time one is going to take to finish this book. It is hardly going to take four hours of time in order to complete this lovely work of literature. As the actual time of reading is not going to take a very high amount of time, the four hours that the readers are going to invest are really going to give them very high dividends—dividends which are not useful in the stock business but in the business named life.
Before deciding to come up with this publication, Shilpa Goel had spent sufficient amount of time in the Indian literature industry as an author, as a poet, and finally as an editor. Generally, whenever an editor decides to publish a work of her own, the book promises to have a great structure. ‘Poetic Letters to God’ lives upto that expectation. It explores the same single heart as five segmented hearts—a heart filled with love for God; a heart of a lonely girl; a curious heart; a broken heart and a grateful heart and then consequently, beautifully draws different letters on the canvas of letter literature.
Undoubtedly, this painting is going to have many takers and many hearts waiting eagerly for the next venture by the author.
