Dubai has recently launched a 24×7 trust bookshop. It is the first of its kind to be launched in Dubai. A trust bookshop is where there is no help staff and relies on a payment drop box where people are to drop the exact value of money of the book or books that they want to purchase. This payment drop box is called a trust box, where the owners have completely trusted their customers to pay the amount in full.
The bookshop named Book Hero is the best place for all the book addicts to be as there is no obligation for anyone to return. The bookshop is also putting up a pop-up stand at Marina Walk, Dubai in May.
The bookshop houses around 20,000 books and has a mixture of Arabic and English books along with French, Russian, Spanish and Chinese language books making it a culturally diverse bookshop. Montserrat Martin, the owner of the bookshop has full trust in his customers, as true book-lovers don’t steal knowledge. He also states that even if anybody does steal a book, he would lose maybe 300 dirhams whereas hiring a staff would cost him so much more. He makes one visit to the bookshop daily to restock and collect the money from the trust box.
The books have been priced and kept very conveniently. There are green and yellow stickers to indicate prices ranging from 10-20 dirhams. This surely seems like a new hub for all book addicts, especially because there will be minimal human interaction and more time to spend with books.
