Briefly describe your journey until now. Have you accomplished what you wanted or still have a mile to go?
This isn’t the end. It is just the beginning, albiet of a new sojourn. I am satisfied with my professional journey, be it the life in uniform or a corporate career post that. Each step that we take is towards a larger goal. There have been setbacks surely, but that has always propelled me to something more alluring and more definitive. Yes, this debut book has been an accomplishment of sorts. But I don’t want to be a one book author.
What is your book “The Story Begins At The End” all about?
The book is a collection of 16 short love stories. Most stories have a thread of love. But each one of them has a take-away too – a message that the reader will keep with him for a long time. I would term it is as romanticism rather than a threadbare romantic story book. Some of the stories in the book are symbolic. I hope these stories reach many more people.
What according to you is Love? Does your idea of love has been reflected in the stories?
For each one of us, love is how we interpret it. It is in so many forms and not only of the romantic kind. It needs to be selfless, but then again you did also have to love yourself first. In my previous interview, I mentioned the stories having a dash of symbolism. In the story ‘Love in the time of Corona’ a couple talk about being soulmates, and even unisoul. That is their idea of love – to immortality. ‘The Messenger’ craves for the person she loves in flesh, a willing mortal.
What is the most fulfilling part of writing this book? And what is the most challenging?
The writing is a joy in itself. And reading your work of creation is a plus. But, you know what is most fulfilling part of writing and publishing? It is when the readers really appreciate and relate to the book. The most challenging aspect is to market the book, just for the sole purpose of gaining as many readers as possible.
Apart from the title, what is unique about your book?
The painting on the book cover, surely. It is so simple, yet so elegant and attractive. The painting has always been dear to me, even before it featured on the book. The overall front cover page has also come up well with the orange colour combination. The back cover has a self-clicked photograph of a rainbow. The twist at the end in these stories will hopefully have a lasting impression on the readers. The literary tool of having the same sentence as the first and last line of the story again conveys the title of the book.
Would you like to share some writing tips with our readers and aspiring writers?
Someone inspirational said to me once, ‘Write down every secret of your soul. Do write. No matter what! The elixir will flow, the muse will come, the moon will glow, but do write no matter the outcome!’ I will convey the same to other aspiring writers.
